“And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Revelation 14:8
For every true, the deceiver creates a counterfeit to lure people away from God. The truth was in the Fruits of the Spirit, the false is in the fermented of those fruits and false spirits.
“Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.”
John 8:41
We are not born in fornication because we have one Father, even God… meaning that worship outside of God is fornication. Simply put fornication is false worship.
There is a recurring analogy of a husband and wife:
“For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church...”
Ephesians 5:23-32
So the relationship between the Husband and Jesus and the wife and the church.
Husband = Christ
Wife = Church
We find an additional analogy of a pure or virgin bride meaning not participating in false religion.
“For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ...”
2 Corinthians 11:2
“I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore...with whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication… and I saw a (church) sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy… And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.”
Revelation 17:1-5
We read how being drunk is the same as fornication...
“For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”
Revelation 18:3
So to drink the fermented wine is to accept the false teachings where you are no longer sober to the truth.
As we learned in the previous guide, ancient Babylon was cursed by God and is described as having a golden cup:
Babylon hath been a golden cup in the Lord's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed (unwilling to repent): forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies. ” Jeremiah 51:7-9
Where have we seen a golden cup?
The strategy is the only thing that has changed, the objective is still the same. The aim of the pope is still to unify the Christian world under papal rule.
In January 2014, Francis presided over an ecumenical worship service at the Basilica of St. Paul with Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, and other Christian representatives and emphasized the need for Christian unity. Francis said:
Pope Francis told the thousands of people who filled the Basilica of St Paul for the evening prayer service that it is unacceptable to consider “divisions in the Church as something natural, inevitable”, because “divisions wound Christ’s body [and] they impair the witness which we are called to give to him before the world. ” Pope Francis via Catholic Herald
The aim of the pope is to unify the Christian world under the banner of their false religion.
The Counter-Reformation, also called the Catholic Reformation or the Catholic Revival, was the Catholic response to the Protestant Reformation. It was a comprehensive effort composed of apologetic and polemical documents and ecclesiastical configuration, and finally included the efforts of Imperial Diets of the Holy Roman Empire, exiling/forcibly converting Protestant populations, heresy trials and the Inquisition, anti-corruption efforts, spiritual movements, and the founding of new religious orders. A primary emphasis of the Counter-Reformation was a mission to reconvert the world to Papal control as seen during the Dark Ages.
